While leading a donation drive on Saturday at the Democratic Labour Party (DLP) headquarters in George Street, Belleville, St Michael, the young attorney called for more to be done to assist young mothers. โOftentimes, young expectant mothers are overlooked, but they are a part of the vulnerable class in society and we have to protect them, we have to be there for them,โ she said. โI want to encourage Barbadians [to help] because we canโt depend on the government to do everything. I think the private sector and the community on a whole, we need to come together to help persons out there who are in need, so this is the start,โ Trotman said, adding that the donation is the beginning of a maternity drive. She explained that the partnership started when someone reached out to her via Instagram indicating they wanted to help. With two members of the private sector on board โ Elite Polish Events and Prestigious Care โ the initiative gained momentum. I donโt have children of my own but when I went to purchase some of these items, I was very shocked at the price of them. I can understand why some people out there are struggling, especially people who have two or three children and are still expecting another one,โ Trotman added.
