Top-class Creole Dominus ran a marvellous race to capture a record-equalling third Francis Cozier Memorial Breeders Sprint in a row at the Garrison on Saturday.

Quickly hassled out of the gates by jockey Rey Williams, Dominus with his ears pricked and fully alert showed tremendous speed from the 1100-metre start with Marvel tracking in second from the Guy Smith barn and stablemate Hurricane in third  approaching the home stretch.

Hurricane rushed up to Dominus, but the Sir David Seale-owned seven-year-old crack sprinter took off like a rocket scoring by a length from a fast-finishing Dancing Prospector.

Hurricane faded to third and Major Dan fourth.

Dominus has now won 13 races from 22 starts with four seconds and four thirds only being unplaced once, which was the Barbados Guineas 2020 at 1570 metres.

Winning Trainer Jamaican-born Andrew Nunes has now won his 400th race since training in Barbados in 2003 as winning rider Rey Williams became the first jockey to be victorious in 3 Breeders Sprints in a row.

Dominus has equaled the record of former top creole Kabul winning three Breeders Sprinters in a row as Kabul had won with three different riders, Juan Crawford, Anderson Trotman, and the late Jamar Maughan 2004-2006.

Sir David Seale will be hoping Dominus could break the record of Ginger Man who he bred at his Hopefield stables in the 1980s and holds the record for the most wins bred at his Hopefield stables, which is 16. (KL)
