This yearโs staging, themed Mimosa: Freedom, marked a new chapter for the popular all-inclusive breakfast party as it made its debut at Pool Woods, St John. From as early as 4 a.m., guests arrived fashionably attired. They were greeted with glasses of champagne poured by women suspended in the air performing aerial yoga, a dazzling touch that perfectly set the tone for the morning. With stunning decor, flowing drinks and feel-good music from the start, the event quickly came alive. However, early morning showers dampened the mood and left much of the venue soggy. โThis is not the experience we wanted. The rain came and really did impact the event, but Iโm very, very happy that everyone stayed. Despite the weather, we are glad that our patrons saw the effort we put in to make them as comfortable as possible,โ said Production Director Omar Backles. He said while the turnout was consistent with previous years, this edition was about more than just the numbers. โWe wanted to include a lot of the differently abled, which is why we had our disability bathroom and a lot more [areas with] paths. The weather posed a challenge for us with the accessibility options, but the team will make an effort to include changes so that the things that are important to our patrons are included,โ he added. The rain did not stop patrons from having a good time. Still, the show went on. DJs kept the energy alive throughout the morning, and performances from BruceLee Almightee, Mole, Jus Jay and Leadpipe and Saddis, Jagwa The Champ, and Lil Rick turned up the heat and helped close the event on a high note. As always, Mimosa delivered on its signature all-inclusive experience with unlimited premium drinks, curated food stations and elegant details that kept guests comfortable and engaged. Beckles shared that although this year wasnโt what the team originally envisioned, the commitment to high standards and continuous improvement remains. โMy team and I worked tirelessly over the last couple of weeks to deliver an event to the standard we know weโre capable of,โ he said. โWe were at the point of perfection, but the rain came during the event. It was disappointing, but we were humbled by the fact that our patrons stayed with us and still had a fantastic time.โ The fact that the event took place on a bank holiday gave more people the chance to attend, including several first-timers. Amanda Addison, who arrived just after gates opened, said the event exceeded her expectations. โThe giveaways, food and drinks were superb and [based on] how things went I will be back here next year for sure.โ Michael Francis was also impressed stating, โThe food is so tasty, the drinks are very good but just for the vibe alone, despite the weather, I will be back at every Mimosa after this.โ Longtime attendee Natasha King, who hasnโt missed a Mimosa since the first one, said the event continues to level up. โEvery year Mimosa grows from strength to strength. They are always looking for ways to bring each experience to another level,โ she said. โUnfortunately the rain made the location a bit muddy, but that couldnโt stop me from having a good time.โ Also spotted in the crowd was Minister of People Empowerment and Elder Affairs Kirk Humphrey, who called Mimosa โone of the best parties of the year.โ โIโve always been a big fan of the fellas, two young men from Westbury Road doing big things and producing a high-quality event. Thatโs why I keep coming back,โ he said. The event also continues to attract international supporters like Sariya from Haiti, who said Mimosa is a must on her Crop Over calendar. โMimosa is always a party that delivers epic vibes. Itโs the great music, entertainment and food that keeps me coming back. I also like that even though it rained it was still good vibes and people were having a good time.โ Looking ahead, Beckles confirmed that the team is already exploring upgrades in accessibility, like more paved areas and seating, to make the experience even more inclusive and comfortable for its loyal patrons.
