In a statement shared on social media, Mottley said she held a โproductive meetingโ with senior CIBC officials, including President and CEO Harry Culham, CIBC Caribbean CEO Mark St Hill, and former CIBC President Victor Dodig. The Prime Minister said CIBC has โfirmly established itself as a true example of a private sector partner that understands the importance of working together for national development,โ noting the bankโs longstanding involvement in Barbadosโ development programmes. She highlighted CIBCโs role in both of the countryโs debt swaps, the debt-for-nature swap and the debt-for-climate swap, which she said will support the upgrading of the South Coast Sewage Treatment Plant into a modern water reclamation facility. โToday, they reaffirmed their commitment to our national development, with a US$1.2 million donation for the completion of the Richard Stoute Amphitheatre in the National Botanical Gardens,โ Mottley stated.
