(GP) Share FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 100 Cheer and laughter filled the grounds of the St Stephen’s Parish Centre on Saturday as children from across the constituency of St Michael North West gathered for a festive Christmas party hosted by Democratic Labour Party (DLP) candidate for St Michael North, Senator Ryan Walters. Despite a sudden downpour of rain, spirits remained high as the afternoon unfolded with a jumping tent, fun games and an array of refreshments that kept little ones smiling from ear to ear. Rather than dampening the mood, the rain seemed only to add to the sense of adventure as children dashed between activities, determined not to miss a moment of the fun. One of the highlights was Santa Claus and his cheerful elves, who were greeted with squeals of excitement and wide-eyed wonder. Santa made his rounds as he interacted with the children, spreading goodwill and holiday cheer. Transportation was provided to the event and each child left with a Christmas gift. Over 100 minors all have a tangible reminder of the season of giving, thanks to Walters and his team. While speaking about the event, Senator Walters pointed out that the celebration was part of an ongoing commitment to the community and not a one-off gesture. Christmas is about giving, togetherness and ensuring our children feel valued and happy. We host this party because we genuinely care about the families of St Michael North West, and the response we received today….the smiles, the laughter, the gratitude from parents was truly heartwarming,” Walters said. He added that seeing children enjoy themselves, even as the rain fell, reinforced the importance of creating spaces for joy and community connection, especially during the Christmas season. Parents and guardians expressed appreciation for the effort, commending the organisers for providing a safe, festive environment filled with wholesome entertainment and holiday warmth. One grandparent, who attended the event with five children, said the constituency would benefit greatly if more initiatives of this kind were staged. “We need more social activities like this, not only for our children, but for the adults in St Michael North West as well. I into politics, but what really stands out is that Walters is not even the sitting MP for the area, yet he still took the time to bring joy to the children,” the 65-year-old said. A father of three thanked Walters for hosting the party. He said his son and two daughters had a good time. As the evening ended, young ones were spotted leaving with the gifts in hand and the broad smiles on their faces. (PR) Barbados Today Stay informed and engaged with our digital news platform.
