Schools remain open, Alexandra closed due to flooding

Schools across Barbados will remain open today despite the weather, with Alexandra School the only exception after flooding forced its closure.
The Ministry of Education Transformation said Chief Education Officer Dr Ramona Archer-Bradshaw consulted with Director of the Barbados Meteorological Services Sabu Best, and it was determined that the conditions were not severe enough to warrant widespread school closures.
However, flooding at Alexandra prompted officials to close the school for the day to protect students and staff.
The ministry is urging parents to ensure children wear appropriate protective gear and take the necessary precautions while travelling to and from school.
