Cashier ordered to repay stolen funds

Admitting to stealing money from her workplace, a Bush Hall cashier has been ordered to repay the funds or serve one month in prison.

Tashara Jalisa Oquinda Gabrielle Pope, 23, of Civilian Road, Bush Hall, pleaded guilty before acting Magistrate Shakieda Sealy in the No. 2 District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court to stealing $1 720 from Pro Sales between September 9 and 17.

The court heard that last Wednesday, surveillance video captured Pope removing cash and placing it next to the register before putting it into her pocket.

Further reviews of CCTV footage showed Pope taking money from the register and placing it in her pocket on previous occasions. The police were called in.

Magistrate Sealy ordered Pope to pay $600 immediately, with the remaining $1 120 to be paid by October 30. If the funds are not repaid, she will spend one month at Dodds Prison.
