She is recognised by her colleagues as a dedicated and highly motivated team member. Therefore, it came as no surprise to Sagicor Life Inc. when Cynthia Blackman was installed as Lieutenant Governor (LG) of Division 27 Caribbean of the Eastern Canada and Caribbean (EC&C) District of Kiwanis International.

Manager of the insurance company’s Customer Experience Unit, Cynthia was officially appointed to her new role in late September, having served as a member of the Kiwanis for over 20 years. She is also the LG Class Board Representative and, as such, will serve on the Board of Trustees of the Eastern Canada and the Caribbean District for one year.

Cynthia is the youngest LG ever elected from Barbados and is one of two individuals in Barbados to receive the Award for Merit, along with being the only individual to receive the Spirit of Service Award for dedicated service to the EC&C District.

Speaking on her appointment, Ms Blackman said, “It is an honour to be leading my division during this trying time. I am confident that I can inspire creative leadership to assist us in positively responding to the needs within our communities. Jimmy Dean stated, ‘I can’t change the direction of the wind, but I can adjust my sails to always reach my destination’. I am sure that we will have an impactful year of service.”

Commenting on the achievement, Sagicor’s Executive Vice President and General Manager Paul Inniss said, “This appointment is reflective of Cynthia’s hard work and commitment. Anyone who has worked with or interacted with her comments on her dedication and professionalism.

“It is also a shining example of the commitment of our team members to giving back to the community. Within Sagicor there are several individuals who work with charitable organisations and community groups, or simply go out on their own to make a difference in their community.

“These individuals truly embody what we as a company strive daily to achieve, which is to be a great company committed to improving the lives of the people in the communities in which we operate.

On behalf of the Management and staff of Sagicor, I congratulate Cynthia and wish her the best of luck in Cynthia this new role.” (PR)
