Christina Chrissy D Dottin has been a consummate performer in the Soca industry for the past 10 years.

She has put out a sizzling selection for the return of the festival and said that the inspiration for her Carnival Story was her wanting to have a one-on-one talk with Crop Over.

“The inspiration behind Carnival Story was really me wanting to have a one-on-one talk with Crop Over/Carnival and express how we all felt when there was a break in our festival for two years.

“The second verse says ‘Ya too own way, tell me where the hell you went! Where was ya common sense’. So safe to say, I was really in my feelings with this song.

But I went on to explain that because of what we have just experienced with having no Crop Over for a while, I won’t be leaving Crop Over unattended again in fear of it not coming back again so this time I am not letting go,” she said.

Chrissy D said that since the release over the weekend she has gotten an overwhelming response for the song which she will be entering competitions this year.

“I always have an open mind when it comes to getting involved in most things.

I carry the ‘you never know what will happen’ mindset so I pretty much run through every door that is open to me because you never know which door will be the one,” she said. This year Chrissy D would have dominated in Baje To The World 2022 with her versatile singing and was a forerunner in the competition. She said that she was grateful for the experience to showcase her vocal ability.

“Most definitely! Especially due to the response I have gotten from the public who know me for doing soca. Everyone’s response was practically the same, everyone knows I can sing but they didn’t know I could sing like that,” she said.

With her new release Carnival Story, she wants persons to take away the energy that she put into her music.

“I want everyone to one, take away the energy I put into the song. I wrote it in a structure to be as light and freeing as possible and Barry Hill did his best sound-wise to create a releasing, positive, light energy around the song so I definitely want people to listen and feel that.

“Secondly, to get out more and enjoy our festival, I believe the last few years without it affected everyone, even the people who may not have been into it as much but they felt it too. So, let’s appreciate it now that it’s back and never let it go,” she said.

Chrissy D said that persons can follow her on all of her social media platforms by typing in @ChrissyDOfficial. Carnival Story can be heard at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FY8Z7lwKk94
