Baje to the World Season 2 winner Tarique O’neal Griffith left the island on Sunday for his first tour with Fay-Ann Lyons and Bunji Garlin.
Griffith is gracing the St. Kitts Music Festival for his first performance outside of Barbados with the Trinidadian duo as part of his grand prize as winner of the competition, which was held earlier this year.
“I am pretty excited about this wholetour trip as it will be my first time performing outside of Barbados and on such a big stage and I am ready. I want to thank Baje to the World for this opportunity.
“This competition has opened a lot of doors for me and I feel that it is a great opportunity for youngsters in Barbados to showcase and develop their talent,” he said.
Producer of the show Dwayne Grazette explained that he was pleased to see the first leg of the tour and the development of Tarique’s career falling into place, as a result of winning Baje to the World Season 2.
“Not only will Tarique be performing for the first time to a regional audience, but he will also be performing his new song ‘Anytime’ at the Festival. As I have stated before, Baje to the World is more than a show where persons come and compete and that is it.
“Baje to the World is much more. As an initiative of the Community Development Department (CDD) in the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment, the programme is about developing local talent. It is about providing the platform for our contestants to access assistance, guidance and opportunities that will help to take their careers to the next level,” he explained.
Grazette added: “This week will be a very hectic for Tarique. In addition to performing with Fay-Ann and Bunji, Tarique will also share the stage with regional and international acts such as Ashanti, Sean Paul, Maxi Priest, Keyshia Cole, Nadia Batson and Destra, who will also be performing at the Festival.
“But it goes beyond that, he will also be learning the ropes about touring as it relates to time-management, rehearsals, interviews and all the other elements that are integral for a successful career in this industry.
“In addition he will be performing for huge crowd audience which will be captured across the entire world. This is a great opportunity not only for Tarique but for Barbados, where we can show the talent that we have here as a result of a developmental programme produced by the Ministry and the CDD.” (PR)
