In a statement, she said it was not an easy decision but was necessary to continue her service to Barbadians. She made clear that serving the public transcends party lines and pledged to remain an unwavering advocate for justice and accountability. Below is the full text of her statement: Today, I announce my decision to switch my political affiliation to the Barbados Labour Party (BLP). This decision was not made lightly, but I believe it is necessary to ensure that I can best serve the people of our great nation. My loyalty has always been to the people of Barbados, not to a particular political party. In times of challenge and change, it is crucial to align oneself where the potential for positive impact is greatest. Serving the public good transcends party lines, and I am committed to advocating for all Barbadians, regardless of political affiliation. The circumstances leading to my decision have not been easy. I found myself in a position where my previous party sought to silence my voice by locking me out and villainizing me for speaking out against unconstitutional behaviors and practices. This is unacceptable and contrary to the principles of democracy that we hold dear. While my alignment with the BLP represents a new chapter, I want to reassure the public that I will remain an unwavering advocate for justice and accountability. I will continue to raise my voice against injustices and stand firmly for the rights of young people and the underprivileged in our society. Equally, I wish to reassure the public that aligning with the BLP does not mean I will shy away from holding the government accountable. Together, we will fight for policies that promote equity, justice, and opportunity for all. I ask for your support as I embark on this new chapter, and I assure you that my commitment to the people of Barbados remains unyielding. Together, we will work towards a future where every Barbadian has the opportunity to thrive. Let us continue to work together toward a brighter future for our nation. I appreciate your support as I take this step, and I am excited about the work ahead. Thank you.
