Share FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 427 When the competitive dust settled on the RUBIS Sports Club Road Tennis Courts at Spring Garden, Anthony ‘GQ’ Harris and ‘Marvelous’ Marvalene Neblett emerged winners of the 5th anniversary annual RUBIS-ROCK Road Tennis Championship 2018 for employees. Nicole “Nicki Mac” McCarthy and Michael Blackman captured the ladies and gent’s crowns respectively in the fun category. There were also two exhibition matches which proved to be both entertaining and highly competitive between Executive Managers, Stewart Gill and Selwyn Jaisingh and professional players, Julian “Michael Jackson” White and Junior “Junie” Alleyne. The tournament, which was held at the company’s Spring Garden courts, saw a significant increase this year with over 52 participants in this inter-departmental event. Rudy Smith, President of the Rubis Sports Club explained that this year’s addition of a children’s category further added a new and exciting aspect to the games. “We had nine children of staff compete this year for the first time and this will auger well for the tournament and the sport in general as interest in the sport increases at their level,” said.
