Speaking to Barbados TODAY King said Government was seeking to renovate the National Stadium as well as secure grant-funding for the redevelopment of the building. “We got a couple of options on the board, but we are looking to do a bit of renovation. We are going to do the building in stages but given that we have got all of these things going on and the process of getting the grant funding, we had a little snag. So we had to go through that all over again. But what we are going to do we are going to do some renovations to it so that persons can use it until we begin to build it out afterward,” he said. King said engineers had assessed the building and they were going to ensure that the building was safe for Barbadian spectators attending BSSAC. “We have carried in engineers and everything they have looked at the building and they said to us that there are certain things that they can do to make it safe and those are the things that we are going to take in the interim,” he said. King told Barbados TODAY that he could not divulge the total amount the renovations would cost as Government was still awaiting the necessary quotations.
