Speaking at the launch of Chefette Fun Run 2019, at the restaurants’ Corporate Office, Wildey, St Michael, Managing Director Ryan Haloute announced that the event would be held on Sunday, June 9, at 4 p.m. He said the Fun Run provides Chefette and its co-sponsors with a golden opportunity to continue the legacy of the late Dame Olga Lopes-Seale, the first patron of the event. Dame Olga, known affectionately as Aunty Olga, was the creator of the Needy Children’s Fund, which still provides invaluable support to over 250 children across the island. “Our main goal is to continue to raise the much-needed funds which will allow us to make meaningful donations to the Aunty Olga Needy Children’s Fund. Monies donated to the Fund will be used to purchase school supplies and other essential items for children who need assistance. “For the past six years since Chefette has taken over the hosting of the Fun Run, we have been able to raise approximately $570, 000 and to provide financial support to over 1, 350 students through the back-to-school programme, grant wishes to terminally ill children and also provide meals for over 17, 500 children through the breakfast programme. We acknowledge that this could not be achieved without the help of our valued sponsors,” Haloute added. Haloute also indicated that Chefette’s philosophy was to give back to society as they continue to invest heavily in the local communities in order to improve the quality of life for the less fortunate. “We also want to express our sincerest appreciation to everyone who will be participating in this year’s Chefette Fun Run: corporate teams, church and school groups, clubs, fitness buddies, friends and relatives and especially persons who have been with us from inception, for this most worthy cause,” he said.
