Police are investigating the death a fisherman whilst at sea.
Oistins police responded to a report that originated from a fishing vessel sometime around 5 a.m. that a fisherman had died 80 miles offshore to the southern point of Barbados.
The vessel was met by the Barbados Coast Guard and escorted to the Oistins Jetty where they were met by police.

lt is very important that we recognise how vulnerable fishermen actually are. The stigma associated with fisher folk and fishermen of being vulgar and smelling fishy and foul we fail to accept the hard labour of these individuals to feed this nation. The dangerous encounters fishermen face, the long hours fish vendors or on their feet deboning flying fish. The cuts the bruises the struggles. l dont know the circumstances surrounding his death, but this is a sad moment for all fisher folk in the middle of such and important time of year for them.
