In addition to presentations by representatives of the Christian, Islamic, and Hindu faiths representing the three dominant religions in Guyana, there was reading of a Martin Carter poem, presented by his daughter, and a rendition of the country’s Republic Song. The three speakers, Dean Dr Jeffrey Gibson, Barbados Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sandra Husbands, and Guyana Consul General, Cita Pilgrim, all underscored the historically close ties Guyana and Barbados have enjoyed.
