This is not only going destroy the local lively hood of the watersports, it will make an impact on the self catering industry that the island also realise on, restaurants local bars, included…. The project is far too large too many storeys, taking away the ambience of the whole area…. Holetown is a sophisticated area, attracting new visitors every year,What cannot be ignored by the planning is many visiting Barbados return more than once, some annually and the already holiday influence that they could stand to loose, St Lucia is also a neighbouring Island, predicted to be the next Barbados, if this project of a 7 storey hotel is granted, Barbados, could make itself its own victim, “quickly”. You really must look at what you have, and why you have it. A 7 Storey hotel IS NOT THE ANSWER !!!!!
It is very sad that Discovery Bay will be torn down to accomodate a large .”chain ” hotel. It will certainly destroy the ambiance of the area. How will it destroy the beautiful beach ? There will be at least 500 people crowding on the small beach area. Renovations are needed granted but not to that extent. What about affordability? I have been coming to Discovery Bay for a few years now and fear that I will not be able to return as the cost will no longer be within my price range.
Sad this is happening
I don’t know what the latest is on this project, or even if it is going to happen. I really hope it doesn’t, in its current format……it is WAY too big! We have been repeat guests to Discovery Bay hotel for years. Yes it needed refurbishment, but on a sympathetic scale, NOT pandering to the mighty $$$ of the few. The beauty of Disco Bay was that it retained its history, it’s beautiful gardens, and was in reach of ALL who visit Barbados. Royalton will price it out of most of its loyal guests’ pockets, including us!! I truly hope someone sees the beauty of this little gem & treats it accordingly, and isn’t blinded by what $$$ the plot can earn for them! That would be truly sad.
Miss you, Discovery Bay!!
