Mount Gay Distilleries Ltd., is continuing to assist with the fight against the spread of COVID-19 in Barbados with the donation of a second batch of hand sanitizer.

To date, the company has contributed more than 8 000, 1.75 litre bottles of the Mount Gay manufactured product worth over $180 000 to its employees, Government agencies including the Royal Barbados Police Force, Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency, Barbados Drug Service, Barbados Customs Department, Barbados Postal Service and the Caribbean Disaster & Emergency Management Agency, and select business partners.

Managing Director Raphaël Grisoni, explained that some of the businesses receiving donations from this batch included restaurants across the island in preparation for their reopening to the public last week.

He said, “We geared our efforts towards these agencies and businesses to assist them in the protection of the population. From the front-line agencies battling the virus for the past few months who we thank very much, to our partners in the trade, including restaurants, which are now open to the public again.

“In addition to the agencies we have also presented our staff members with sanitizer and care-packages for their homes. At Mount Gay we are committed to the health and safety of the Barbadian community, our employees and the people who visit our island. We understood the immediate need to do our part in the fight against COVID-19 and our teams were able to quickly adapt to facilitate the production, while following all health and safety protocols.”

Grisoni added that as a corporate citizen of Barbados it is very important for Mount Gay to play its part in supporting the community, “The hand sanitizer initiative was one that was supported by all of our staff members and we put in all efforts in order to redirect our production and deliver the hand sanitizer, which of course is not our primary business but we recognised the need to be agile and flexible in order to serve our community.”
