Sheldon Gomes, older brother of former West Indies cricketer Larry Gomes, reportedly passed away on Tuesday, September 15, 2020 in the United States of America. Sheldon, considered by many a brilliant fielder, had a record of 45 catches in his 55 first class matches for the twin island republic between 1968 and 1983, and five (5) centuries, which included 213 against Jamaica in the Shell Shield tournament in the 1976/77 season. WIPA extends sympathies to the Gomes’ family and friends and we wish them peace and strength at this time. WIPA also extends sympathies to the Trinidad and Tobago and West Indies cricket fraternity.
