New Senator sworn in

Assistant Registrar at the University of the West Indies’ Cave Hill Campus Julian Hunte is Barbados’ newest independent senator.

Senator Hunte, 44, was officially sworn in by Governor General Dame Sandra Mason at Government House just after 11 on Friday morning.

During a brief word with reporters, Hunte, who is a former Deputy General Secretary of the Barbados Workers’ Union (BWU) pledged to use the appointment as a platform to represent the country’s working masses.
