FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 270 The management of Accra Beach Hotel and Spa has issued the following statement in response to Thursday’s protest by former employees: The Management of Accra Beach Hotel & Spa prides itself on fairness and transparency to all its staff. During the COVID-19 pandemic we have sought to communicate with all staff when possible and continued to provide services such as medical insurance, paying both the employer and employees’ portion of the plan. It is unfortunate that 42 per cent of our staff have ended their contracts with the hotel and have applied for severance, however we will do all in our power to ensure that they receive what is due to them. Communication: When the island was reopened during COVID-19 we arranged to have zoom meetings with our 360 employees assuring them that everything possible was being done to reopen the property. Approximately 80 per cent of our staff attended these meetings and were given the opportunity to ask any questions. In addition to the meetings, staff were given the mobile numbers of the management team to contact us if necessary. Vacation Pay: All employees who ended their employment with Accra Beach Hotel & Spa have been paid their vacation pay. Some persons queried the payment and contacted us directly. All queries were addressed and resolved. Severance: All persons who have applied for severance are being directed to the National Insurance Scheme as we are not in a financial position to meet such a commitment.
