Man charged with rape

A 27-year-old conductor charged with three counts of sexual intercourse with a child was remanded to HMP Dodds over the weekend.

Jamar Akeem Nathaniel Powlett, of Block 2A, Bottom Close, Wildey, St Michael is accused of committing the act on the 13-year-old girl, on August 16, November 2 and November 16.

He could not plead to the indictable charges when he appeared before Chief Magistrate Ian Weekes on Saturday and the prosecutor objected to his bail on several counts.

He was remanded until January 15 to reappear in the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court after his application for bail was denied.
