The Barbados Government is making provisions to ensure travellers to the United States will have ready access to COVID-19 tests and their results.
The Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc (BTMI) has given this assurance in a brief statement that comes on the heels of an announcement by United States authorities, which require travellers to present a negative COVID-19 test for entry into the country.
The BTMI said: “Rapid tests are accepted and over the next week, the Government of Barbados will be announcing testing facilities dedicated to travellers to the U.S., where rapid tests will be administered to allow fast-tracking of results for these special cases.”
At the weekend, a posting by the United States Embassy in Barbados stated that the CDC has ordered that all airline passengers travelling to the US must provide proof of a negative COVID-19 viral test or recovery from COVID-19.
The statement noted: “Effective January 26, all airline passengers to the United States ages two years and older must provide either a negative COVID-19 viral test taken within three calendar days of travel or provide a positive test result and documentation from a licensed health care provider or public health official of having recovered from COVID-19 in the 90 days preceding travel.” (BT/BTMI)

Let’s hope for American travellers the BTMI has checked its facts because a rapid viral test can be done in 15-20 minutes but only shows if you have antibodies. I am puzzled at the US Consulate statement that it must be taken within three calendar days in advance of departure.
so, what happened to the “daily dash board” ??? Here in Nova Scotia we get a daily update. No new cases today.
We are now booked to arrive in Barbados Feb 25 for a month, hoping it will be safe by that time , after cancelling our flight end of January because of Barbados’ handling of the covid outbreak. I check every day for stats, but last update was Jan 15!!! If the govt doesn’t get their ***** together, we will have to cancel again.
Interesting since they are very much behind with the testing in Barbados and it isn’t looking any better. People still in hotel rooms waiting for tests not good enough!! Is this a money making ploy?
Shocking inviting people to Barbados and then expect them to stay in a hotel room for 4 days and more ridiculous how will they spend money in the environment then since that is why you have kept your borders open.. I for one have discouraged anyone from coming to Barbados until they get their act together.. Disgraceful!
What are the requirements if the 2nd COVID-19 vaccination has been administered 3 weeks prior to traveling to Barbados, and the stay is for 3 Weeks?
Why has the govt not arranged this for Canadian and British/UK travelers as well for this fast track testing? Albeit there are perhaps more US returnees but this rapid testing should be allowed to all, not just those from the USA.
