Barbadians and others who had earlier applied to pick cotton at Searles Farm, Newton, Christ Church; Redland Farm, Wakefield, St John, and Mt. Pleasant Farm, Parish Land, St Philip are advised that harvesting will start tomorrow, Monday, March 1.

The fields will open from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m., with all COVID-19 protocols in full effect on site, and at all collection points.

Workers may also pick and store at their own convenience.

Cotton pickers are advised that harvesting attire must comprise the following: long sleeve shirts, long pants, headgear (hat, scarf or head tie), and fully enclosed shoes.ย  They should also have an umbrella and water.

Personnel ย from the Barbados Agricultural Management Company (BAMC) will collect and weigh cotton at prescribed times during the day.

The opportunity to harvest cotton is being provided by the BAMC to give persons a chance to earn cash and contribute to the economy.

For further information on the cotton harvesting season, persons may call BAMCโ€™s Area Office at 437-5465 or 422-2809. (BGIS)
