SOURCE: SKY NEWS โ€“ Piers Morgan has claimed he has the โ€œuniversal supportโ€ of the British public over his comments about Prince Harry and Meghan Markleโ€™s Oprah Interview.

Speaking in his first TV interview since leaving Good Morning Britain over the row, he accused the couple of โ€œlying on a global scaleโ€ during theirย tell-all chatย with Winfrey last month.

Morganย stood by his claims thatย Meghanย lied about being denied help for suicidal thoughts and a member of the royal household making racist remarks about the colour of her sonโ€™s skin.

He told Tucker Carlsonโ€™s Fox News programme: โ€œThe British people have seen through this.

โ€œOld, young, black, white, it didnโ€™t matter. Theyโ€™ve been coming up to me in their droves all day every day.โ€

Aย YouGovย poll carried out after their interview suggested public support for the Sussexes had fallen to an all-time low.

Morganย quit the ITV breakfast showย after storming off set following a row with GMB weather presenter Alex Beresford.

The former newspaper editor claims he refused to bow to the broadcasterโ€™s pressures to apologise for his remarks about the couple โ€“ after they triggered more than 50,000 complaints.

He described Beresford, who was highly critical of him on the day he walked offset, as โ€œthe stand-in weather guy who does the weather occasionallyโ€.

Morgan told Carlson: โ€œHeโ€™s not a journalist. But heโ€™s somebody Iโ€™ve helped with his career a number of times when heโ€™s asked me toโ€.

Beresfordโ€™s comments were also described as a โ€œpremeditated attackโ€ฆ on a personal levelโ€.

Morgan also said he โ€œdidnโ€™t particularly likeโ€ his co-presenter Susanna Reidโ€™s on-air statement after he left, but claims she may have been too scared to publicly support him for fear of the backlash.

โ€œI honestly think she was in the grip of fear. I think she was fearful that if she went too far in saying nice things about me, the same thing might happen to her, that there would be a huge Twitter pile-on,โ€ he said.

In another attack on the royal couple, he described Meghan as a โ€œdelusional duchess who is on the makeโ€ and accused her and her husband of โ€œcomplete hypocrisyโ€.

Criticising the couple for their commercial deals with the likes of Spotify and Netflix, Morgan said: โ€œTheyโ€™re not making all this money through talent โ€“ Meghan was an OK actress on a show not many people watched.โ€

Onย Harryย specifically, he said he has โ€œturned into a whiny brat in his mid-30s complaining his dad isnโ€™t still financing everything he doesโ€.

He said the interview itself was โ€œtacky, tasteless, disingenuousโ€ and the pair told โ€œso many ridiculous whoppersโ€ when making accusations of racism and a lack of welfare support.

ITV, Ofcom and mental health charity Mind expressed their concerns over Morganโ€™s comments that he didnโ€™t โ€œbelieveโ€ Meghan.

He said he fell victim to the โ€œwoke mobโ€ because he โ€œstood up and said noโ€.

Buckingham Palace said they were โ€œsaddenedโ€ by the coupleโ€™s claims and the allegations around race were โ€œconcerningโ€.

But the statement on behalf of the Queen vowed to address the matter in private.
