With the natural disaster of explosive eruptions from the La Soufriere volcano on the island of St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG), the ANSA McAL Group joined the rest of its local and regional counterparts in providing some measure of support to that Caribbean country.
As part of ANSA McAL’s You Will Never Walk Alone initiative, Group companies such as ANSA Chemicals Ltd., ANSA Coatings Ltd., ANSA Polymer Ltd., ANSA Merchant Bank Ltd., Alston’s Marketing Company Ltd. (AMCO), Carib
Brewery Ltd and Standard Distributors Ltd, donated thousands of dollars’ worth of supplies in an effort to provide relief towards the people of SVG.
As part of the first tranche of assistance from the private sector, ANSA Chemicals donated Clean and White bleach valued at approximately TT$16 000. ANSA Polymer donated 3000 basins and AMCO donated over 1000 cans of
Brunswick Tuna which was coordinated through the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Management (ODPM). These items were loaded on the Galleons Passage’s first voyage to SVG on Tuesday, April 13, 2021, together with essential products from Corporate Trinidad and Tobago.
On Wednesday 23rd April 2021, the second tranche of assistance was coordinated. ANSA Merchant Bank Ltd donated six pallets of water and 5000 face masks. Standard Distributors Ltd generously contributed 100 mattresses that were loaded on board the cargo ship Admiral Bay.
These items were delivered to St. Vincent’s National Emergency Management Organisation (NEMO), who will utilise their distribution channels on the islands.
Carib Brewery Ltd produced for the first time, a special order of lightly carbonated canneeed water for the people of SVG.
The first shipment of over 1300 cases of this product was shipped on Saturday April 24, 2021. The ANSA McAL Group will continue to monitor the situation in St Vincent and the Grenadines and work with stakeholders in bringing about comfort to the people of SVG. (PR)
