The Barbados Meteorological Services (BMS) has issued a flash-flood warning for northern parishes.

“Maximum rainfall accumulations of 20.0 to 50.0 mm in moderate to heavy showers are expected across northern districts,” the BMS has advised.

The forecasters also urged residents and visitors to be prepared for possible significant runoff from higher elevations, significant soil erosion, large water settlements on roads and fields, significant delays on traffic routes with some roads possibly impassable and significant flooding at the foot of hillsides and coastal roads.

The warning will be terminated at 6 p.m., or sooner if conditions warrant.
