Two Jamaican men are to remain on remand at Dodds for another 28 days after an application for bail was denied by Chief Magistrate Ian Weekes over robbery and burglary charges.

Ryon Antonio Williams who resided at Apartment 1 Fontabelle, St Michael, a 29-year-old carpenter and Shaquieno Jared Forde, 23, a labourer, who lived at Rock Hall, St Thomas have been on remand for the past three months in connection with two offences, according to attorney-at-law Damien Sands.

The duo are alleged to have robbed Jay Goodrich of a wallet, a cellular phone, a phone case and $60 cash, as well as trespassing into the house of Evans Holford and stealing $97.

They also stole two cellular phones and a knife belonging to Jonathan Wilkinson when they burglarized his home while allegedly armed with an imitation firearm.

When the case was called before Weekes the prosecution led by Sergeant Verdon Forde renewed their application against bail, saying that they had no legal status in the country.

Sands again urged the court to exercise its discretion in the accused duoโ€™s favour, adding that stringent conditions could be imposed as part of their bail to secure their attendance at court.

Chief Magistrate Weekes ruled against the application saying that these โ€œtwo gentlemen were in this place without anything or an application to stay in the placeโ€.

โ€œThese are grave matters and although they canโ€™t be kept forever, I donโ€™t think that it can happen at this time,โ€ he said.

He then remanded the two until September 30.
