Shem Bernard Ashton, 40, from Church View, St John, became the second man this week to appear before Magistrate Manila Renee accused of theft from the commission agency. On Tuesday, the accused appeared before the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing three cases of luncheon meat worth $450 and a 17 litre canister of oil worth $100 from Atlantic. He pleaded not guilty to the charge. With no objection to bail from prosecutor Police Constable Kenmore Philips, Ashton secured the $750 sum with one surety. Ashton, who was represented by attorney-at-law Simon Clarke, is to reappear before the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court on February 1.
