COVID-19 Update: 301 new cases, 2 deaths, 533 people in isolation facilities, 1951 in home isolation

A total of 301 new cases of COVID-19 were reported by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory on Thursday, October 7.
The facility conducted 2,334 tests.
The new positives consist of 141 males and 160 females. Of these, 81 individuals are under the age of 18, and the other 220 are 18 years and older.
There are 553 persons in isolation facilities, and 1,951 in home isolation.
Two deaths were recorded on Thursday: a 78-year-old woman, and a 36-year-old man.
Both passed away at the Harrison’s Point Isolation Facility and were unvaccinated.
Barbados has recorded 10,383 confirmed COVID-19 cases (5,052 males and 5,331 females) since March 2020. The number of lives lost to the virus is 88, as at October 7.
The public health laboratory has carried out 336,121 tests since February last year.
To date, 140,616 first doses of the COVID-19 vaccines have been administered under the National Vaccination Programme. A total of 110,616 people (40.8 per cent of the total population or 48.4 per cent of the eligible population) have received their
second dose and are fully vaccinated.
The eligible population represents those persons who are 12 years and older. (BGIS)
