Former televangelist and pastor Jippy Doyle was laid to rest Thursday in a private funeral at Coral Ridge Memorial Gardens after dying of COVID-19.

After spending three days at an isolation facility, Doyle died at the age of 52, leaving to mourn his wife and three daughters.

Friends, family and members of his past congregations came together in small numbers because of COVID-19 guidelines to pay tribute to the controversial figure.

The late pastor’s mother, Terica Doyle Williams, was not able to make it to the island to pay her last respects but in a  written tribute that was read aloud, said: “He loved bringing souls to God, I came to know Jesus through my son. I, Terica Doyle Williams, was one of the first persons he baptized in 1990…. God called him home soon because he had finished what God had called him to do here on earth. May God cause him to rest in peace with the angels. I loved my son Jippy, and will always love my son.

“No devil or demon can come in your life anymore – you agree with the angels, I love you, I love God with all my heart. I thank my son Jippy Joel Doyle, I will love you forever.”

Former members of his church, JJD Ministries, also paid emotional tributes to Doyle, describing him as a “man of excellence, order and vision”.

Doyle, arguably one of the most prominent televangelists on the island during the late 90’s and early 2000’s, was jailed on a rape conviction of a minor that was later reduced to indecent assault.

After spending three years in prison, he was released in 2011, still declaring publicly that he was innocent of the charges. (SB)
