Republic Bank’s pledge to be of service to its various communities continues, and the latest beneficiaries are students of the St. Ambrose Primary School. St. Ambrose is one of three public primary schools situated in inner Bridgetown, and is located on Cypress Street, with a roll of just over 100 children.

The small City school may not have a big public profile, but Republic Bank (Barbados) Limited ensured that its students, who wrote the 2021 Barbados Secondary Schools Entrance Examination (BSSEE), knew they were important and their efforts rewarded.

Recently, a team from Republic, led by Sharon Howell of the Bank’s Marketing and Corporate Communications Department, presented Lenovo laptop computers to St Ambrose Primary’s top performer in the BSSEE and the best male student.

D’Zariah Yarde who received the highest scores among those students at the school writing the exam, while Jesaiah Williamson, the most well-rounded male student, each received a laptop computer.

In addition, Republic Bank presented each of them with a cheque for $500. Two other students at the school, Zayvion Welch, who was adjudged the most improved boy, and Kayla Harry, the most improved girl, were also presented with gifts of encouragement from Republic Bank.

Zayvion and Kayla, each received a cheque for $1,000, while all the students were presented with goodie bags, filled with promotional items from the Bank.

Jean Trotman, principal of St Ambrose Primary was effusive in her praise of the Bank for its continued support of the school, and its demonstration of goodwill to the immediate communities in Bridgetown.

Commenting also was Sophia Allsopp, Manager, Marketing and Corporate Communications, who said the presentation was part of the Bank’s Power to Make a Difference programme, which works in furtherance of the Bank’s sustainable development commitments.

The primary school was adopted by the bank last year and Allsopp said it was another opportunity to “fulfil our responsible banking mandate”. Moreover, she emphasised Republic Bank’s commitment to the Responsible Banking Principles.

That pledge includes paying greater attention to the bank’s products and services and determining how they can align to support social and environmental development, as well as financial growth opportunities for citizens. (PR)
