In memory of his late father Sir Charles Williams, Teddy Williams, managing director of C.O. Williams Construction Company and his team have donated two life scope machines to the Harrison’s Point Isolation Facility.

During Wednesday’s official handover of the lifesaving devices, Williams said it was an important move by the company to lend its support to the island’s main primary care site for COVID-19 positive patients, as the facility and the island’s medical professionals have done so much over the past several months to keep the country going even in the face of unprecedented challenges.

“We wish we could do more at this time, but it is the start of what we would like to do and continue to do for this facility. I don’t think Barbados really understands and appreciates fully what we have here.

“It’s an amazing feat. It’s an amazing facility and I think it is world-class. As Barbadians, I think we should be very proud of it. I would ask now in this forum that all Barbadians support it fully, and be proud of what we have here, and what Dr Forde has achieved with his team,” Williams urged.

Manager of Isolation Facilities, Dr Corey Forde, thanked Williams for the generous donation and stressed that despite the drop in numbers seen of late with positive COVID-19 cases, his team at the facility continues to offer non-stop care for patients.

“We are eternally grateful for what you have done in terms of providing us with these very expensive pieces of equipment today, which will go a long way in helping the average Barbadian. Whether you live in the heights, or you live in the terraces, or you live in the other areas, these pieces of equipment will go a long way in terms of helping and aiding patient care at this facility, which is something that we take pride in.

“The team here at Harrison’s point continues to give their all and continue to do their best… Although the numbers have fallen, people are still sick. We still have to continue to work and work at that particular pace,” said Dr Forde. (SB)
