DLP candidate for Christ Church East Central Rasheed Belgrave, wants to see more home-grown community projects started in his constituency.
Speaking with Barbados TODAY on Saturday, after canvassing with his team, Belgrave said many ideas had arisen out of conversations with residents, with his aim, once elected to office, being to take significant steps in creating deeper bonds between the different communities under his watch.
“It may be a little difficult but I am trying to bring the whole constituency together, because I feel that residents in this area actually have some good ideas that can be instituted in this area.
“I was speaking to one resident and he [mentioned] a community garden where everybody participates and grows stuff and plants and whatnot. I think that would be a good idea especially for the children. They need something to do and it is a learning process as well,” he said.
Belgrave further added that residents within the constituency have for a long time felt ignored by their representatives, so it was important for him to make his face well known and his thoughts well known to the electorate, as well as hearing their pressing concerns.
So far he says, the responses have been favourable. (SB)
