Since the Professional Cricket League (PCL) was implemented from the 2014-2015 first-class season, there has been dominance by Barbados Pride over Leeward Islands Hurricanes.

In 11 clashes prior to the current first round match at Kensington Oval, title holders Barbados have won seven and Leeward Islands two with the others drawn.

From an individual perspective, Barbados wicketkeeper/batter Shane Dowrich and teammate, left-arm spinner Jomel Warrican – both Test players – can boast of outstanding performances.

Dowrich has struck two centuries and narrowly missed a third ton.

Seven years ago to the month, the diminutive Dowrich scored an unbeaten 131 as Barbados triumphed by an innings and 190 runs at Kensington Oval.

The following month he made 106 in another resounding win for Barbados by nine wickets at Warner Park in St. Kitts.

Then in March of 2016, Dowrich fell for 96 as Barbados yet again won convincingly – by an innings and 93 runs at Warner Park.

Two years ago at the same venue, Dowrich made 79 with Barbados triumphing by an innings and 81 runs.

And his liking for the Leewards’ bowling was further underlined by a face-saving knock of 86 yesterday as Barbados gained a first innings lead of 152 on the second day.

Warrican boasts of four five-wicket hauls – all at Warner Park.

His best figures of eight for 88 came in March 2015. He followed with five for 50 in the second innings.

Then in 2016, Warrican grabbed six for 102, and in 2017 he picked up six for 89.
