Barbados records 190 COVID-19 cases

As of Saturday, February 19, 190 persons tested positive for COVID-19 from the 1,050 tests conducted by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory. Of the 190 persons, 103 were males and 87 were females.

From the new cases, 40 individuals were under the age of 18, and 150 were 18 years and older. There were 100 persons in isolation facilities, and 3,420 in home isolation.

Two Barbadian males, a 69-year-old vaccinated and an 84-year-old unvaccinated succumbed to the virus on Saturday, February 19, bringing the total number of COVID-19 deaths to 310.

The public health laboratory has carried out 576, 655 tests since February 2020, and recorded 53,698 cases (24,941 males and 28, 757 females) of COVID-19.

Under the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19, the total number of persons with at least one dose is 159,825 (70 per cent of the eligible population).

The total number of fully vaccinated persons is 148,906 (54.9 percent of the total population, or 65.2 percent of the eligible population). The eligible population represents those persons who are 12 years and older. (BGIS)
