The island’s final two senators, Dr Kristina Hinds and Dr Chelston Brathwaite were this morning sworn in by President Dame Sandra Mason at State House.
Dr Hinds and Dr Brathwaite said they were honoured to be appointed and pledged to represent the interests of Barbadians.
Dr Hinds, the current head of the Department of Government, Social Work and Sociology has lectured at the UWI for more than 16 years. She is an alumni of the University of the West Indies, the London School of Economics, the University of Kent, St Mary’s University and the Combermere School.
Dr Brathwaite, is a former Barbados Ambassador to China and Director of the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation.
He is renowned for his work as an administrator, researcher, lecturer and technical advisor on plant diseases and crop protection.
