UPDATE – Two bodies found at Long Beach, Christ Church

Hours after residents of Long Beach, Christ Church reported hearing several gunshots, two lifeless bodies were discovered on the beach.

The grim discovery was made on Tuesday morning after residents spoke of hearing gunshots being fired around 11 p.m. on Monday.

It is alleged that the bodies of the two males, which were found in a bushy area surrounded by trees, had gunshot related injuries.

The identities of the two men were not immediately revealed.

“We can confirm the deaths of the two young males which we are obviously treating as unnatural. They have not yet been identified formally and we still are asking persons who might have missed someone from their family, who may think it may be their loved one or family member, to reach out to the Oistins Police Station,” Police Public Affairs and Communications Officer Acting Inspector Rodney Inniss said.

Police received a call around 11:15 a.m. on Tuesday informing them of the discovery.

When a team from Barbados TODAY arrived at the scene police had already cordoned off the area and were conducting investigations.

Surfing legend and longtime resident Brian Talma told members of the media he was inside his house with his family when the loud sounds of gunfire pierced the night.

“I’m shocked and saddened that this has happened.

“That evening I went down Crop Over, had an amazing day and I came home and I was planning to go to the beach around 10 o’ clock, but when I heard the gunshots, it was at first rapid fire and then it went silent and then it went back again but not as rapid. We shut all the lights off because we thought it was gunshots and somebody saw a light go past our house to the back of the house, which we’ve seen in the past . . . but we did realise it was gunshots and we were concerned that something was happening in the neighborhood.

“I do not know what happened. I assume it’s drugs because it has happened before . . .” Talma said.
