COVID-19 Update: 718 new positive cases

There were 718 new COVID-19 cases, 299 males and 419 females, recorded on Wednesday, August 3, from the 1,566 tests conducted by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory.

Of the positive cases, 80 persons were under the age of 18, and 638 were 18 years and older.

The number of people in isolation facilities was 62, while 2,799 were in home isolation.

An 87-year-old man succumbed to the viral illness on Wednesday.

As at August 3, there were 496 COVID-19 related deaths. The public health laboratory has conducted 731,869 tests since February
2020, and recorded 93,559 COVID-19 cases (42,518 males and 51,041 females).

Under the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19, the total number of persons with at least one dose is 162,966 (71.4 per cent of the eligible population).  The total number of fully vaccinated persons is 154,033 (56.8 per cent of the total population or 67.4 per cent of the eligible population).  The eligible population represents those persons who are 12 years and older. (BGIS)
