Top local draughts player Kent Layne has done Barbados and the Caribbean proud in the recently concluded English Draughts Premier League 2022, played online.
Layne finished a strong third in a field of 17 players. The lone player from Barbados in the competition, the talented Layne finished on 55 points, behind South African player Nsizwa Ndlovu who won the tournament on 76 points followed by fellow South African Modise Moswetsi on 58 points.
Layne was the highest placed player from the Caribbean ahead of Rohan Thomas of Jamaica who finished fourth on 49 points.
The tournament was run under the Go As You Please format for 10 rounds which saw Layne winning seven matches and losing three.
For finishing third, Layne will receive a certificate awarded by Jake Evans, the organizer of the tournament. (PR)
