Share FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 524 By Morissa Lindsay In what was a thriller, Beverly Hills snatched victory over Mavericks 3-2 compliments Richardson Rouse’s brace, as the 2022 Barbados Football Association Republic Cup and Women’s Super League Competition continued last night at Dover, Christ Church. Dressed in their orange, Beverly Hills escaped a draw thanks to Rouse’s goals scored in the 19th and 74th minutes while an own goal by Mavericks was netted in the sixth. The Crichlow brothers Rashad and Rashon accounted for a goal each in the 43rd and 53rd minutes for Mavericks but it was not enough as Rouse secured the winner for Beverly Hills. In the nightcap game, Caribbean United were dominant 4-0 against FC Byde Mill thanks to Kevon Durant’s stellar performance. Durant’s beaver-trick was registered in the sixth, 15th, 53rd (penalty) and 70th minutes. The lone women’s game played at Dover yesterday was won 2-0 by RF Prime against Pinelands who were caught napping at the back. Keidasha Thomas got the ball rolling for RF Prime as early as the 11th minute and senior national player Daphne Watson- James with a goal in the 45th minute sealed it for the ladies in red coached by Kirk Corbin. Watson- James in particular played well for RF Prime as she dribbled and outpaced Pinelands defence and based on her continuous probing, it was just a matter of time before she found the back of the nets. And so said so done, as Watson-James accounted for a brilliant 25-yard right foot one-time volley past Pineland goalkeeper Lisa Harding who attempted to execute a high- flying save but was unable to get her gloves on the ball. Take nothing away from Harding, so far in this women’s Super League she has been outstanding as Pinelands’ number one. She reaches, dives, catches and goes after any incoming threats. She led by example because what could have been five goals scored, Harding cut to a mere two which was a clear indication of how good she was in goal. There were other matches played yesterday and over at Valery, Dayrell’s Road lost 0-2 to Eastern United thanks to a goal each from Julian Hope (63rd) and Shamar Applewaithe (90+1). Carlton defeated Chickmont 4-2 in an entertaining clash as Kyle Forde- Blades (6th), Jalen Johnson (15th), Sayfuddeen Cumberbatch (49th) and Che Millington (89th) found the nets. Scoring for Chickmont was Jared Rice in the 29th and Tariq Daniel in the 87th minute. Meanwhile in the ladies’ match, Kickstart Genesis won 2-0 against Mavericks as Chazelle Cumberbatch in the 50th and Asha Stevenson in the 70th took care of business. Over at Greens, Technique won by default as they were scheduled to play Combined Women’s team. In the men’s game, host team Greens United lost 2-1 to Technique when Nathaneel Straker netted a brace in the 16th and 70th minutes while Aniko Grazette was the lone scorer for Greens. In the other match, Parish Land edged Villa United 1-0 with Shakado Scott being the hero for the victors. At Speightstown, FVFC Femeni and University of the West Indies Blackbirds played to a goalless draw. However, goals were scored in the men’s game contested between Hothersal Turning and Cosmos as they played to a 2-2 draw. Baggio Alleyne and Stefan Pitt registered two first half goals in the 25th and 41st but Cosmos in a businesslike manner pulled it back with a beautiful brace from Ronaldo Farley in the 60th and 83th minutes respectively. morissalindsay@barbadostoday.bb Sasha Mehter You may also like Teens remanded in relation to Shawnathon Chase shooting death 17/04/2025 Lawyer demands CWI pay prize money and match fees 17/04/2025 Mother, daughter among three charged in half-million-dollar cocaine bust 17/04/2025
