Local NewsNews Update: Forecasters upgrade flash watch to a warning by Barbados Today 10/10/2022 written by Barbados Today Updated by Sandy Deane 10/10/2022 1 min read A+A- Reset Share FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 308 The Barbados Meteorological Services (BMS) has upgraded the flash-flood watch to a warning. In its latest update, the forecasters said they have observed maximum rainfall accumulations of up to 35 mm across eastern sections of the island, mainly St Philip and Christ Church. The BMS said: “As the morning continues further accumulations of 25.0 to 50.0 mm are anticipated in heavy to violent showers. Due to the saturated nature of the soils further shower activity is likely to cause flooding.” The BMS explained the current conditions have resulted from a favourable mid to upper-level environment that has been enhancing convection around the island. The warning will be updated or terminated by noon or sooner if conditions warrant.
