The event is organized by Julie Turney, who is the CEO and principal consultant of HR@Heart Consulting Inc., a company that coaches burnt-out and frustrated Human Resource professionals in their careers. Turney said that due to the overwhelming demand in February, they have decided to move the event from Ten Habitat to the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre. “This time, members of the audience can look forward to hearing thirteen speakers – La Shawna Griffith, Shauna Marshall, Ambassador Joan Underwood, Kelly Johnally, Adelena Chandler, Kara Boyce, Dr. Rochelle Haynes, Dr. Jaycee Mayers, Tiffany Broomes, Corey McClean, Sharon Moaze and Cherita O’Dell speak on various topics that would improve the way we work. Our speakers are mostly from Barbados, but we also have speakers from the Bahamas and St Maarten joining the lineup,” she said. Corey McClean Turney said to become a speaker for Disrupt HR Barbados, speakers apply through their online application process and then they select the best speakers based on their topic. “We also do additional research on their LinkedIn profiles; however, some speakers are selected through headhunting in the business community,” she explained. We will hear some spoken word from Stonedwithcupid and Deo The Poet who are two of the top spoken word artistes in Barbados. So, we are truly looking forward to hearing the new perspectives they bring to the table,” she said. Julie Turney The HR Professional also stated that outside of the added entertainment, patrons can also enjoy more entertainment segments and giveaways as they have partnered with some local entrepreneurs and are also adding a pop-up shop where patrons can purchase items from some of Disrupt HR Barbados’ sponsors and contributing entrepreneurs. “We hope that members of the public who attend Disrupt HR Barbados would walk away with some new ways to improve the way they work and support the people they lead and serve. Last time we saw members of the audience taking notes as the presentations went on and we are hoping that this time it would be no different as all of the speakers have very engaging topics which would definitely leave some food for thought,” she said.
