Islandlinkz in collaboration with Thrifty Sistaz is hosting its second Northern Vendor Blender Pop-Up Shop at The Barbados Tourism Investment Inc, Carpark, Speightstown, St. Peter, this Saturday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The event, which was conceptualized by Lindsay Babb who is the managing director of Islandlinkz, said the event seeks to showcase services from business owners on the north of the island.

“This event is to showcase some of the entrepreneurs who are doing great things from the North of the island. At present all of our stall spaces are sold out. We have a lot of exciting businesses displaying their products and or services with us ranging from a mobile grocery store to financial services. The goal of this event is to show persons that entrepreneurship can be beneficial to our economic growth, but it starts at the community level,” he said.

Babb added that the main objective of the Pop-Up Shop is to build a community among local entrepreneurs.

“The main focus is to bring entrepreneurs together and allow them to showcase their talents and services. But it is also to show them that competing is not a bad thing because each of us has a talent and a way of doing things. This event is to let the community know about the budding entrepreneurs around them. I believe businesses in the north can assist with generating needed income in the community,” he said.

The businessman who is passionate about small business development said that he decided to host the event at the end of the month because in Barbados persons predominantly do their shopping on weekends.

“We are inviting the members of the public to come down to BTI Car Park on Saturday while they are going around doing their shopping and come and see what we have to offer. Some of the products being manufactured in Barbados can compete with some of the major players in manufacturing. The buzz word in Barbados is entrepreneurship and this event fosters that by showcasing many of the businesses located in the north of the island,” he said.

But how did the partnership with Thrifty Sistaz come about?

Babb chuckled as he explained that Thrifty Sistaz is operated by his sisters who have always had a passion for business but prefer to be in the background with the planning and conceptualization of ideas. Thus, for the past five years the company has been a staple at many flea markets across the island selling a diverse selection of products ranging from plants to household items.

The businessman and popular DJ said that the Northern Blender Pop-Up Shop is the second event that they have held and he wished to thank his sponsors Infra Construction, Comfeet Foot Care Clinic, Harmony Surgical Inc and Good Time Snacks for their support in making this pop-up shop a success.

Babb invited persons who wish to be a part of his upcoming pop up to contact +1246 828-4913 to reserve their car space.
