ICE brings much-needed cheer to hundreds

Whoever said it wasn’t possible to have a “white Christmas” in Barbados was proven wrong on Monday morning.

That’s because hundreds who descended on L’Belle Lawns, Lower Estate, St Michael on Boxing Day didn’t need snow. All they needed was to be dressed in white and be in picturesque surroundings decorated in white.

The occasion was ICE All-White Winter’s Tale Sunrise Breakfast Inclusive Fete, which started at daybreak, 5 a.m. to be exact, and went on till well into the afternoon.

Many have described it as “the most epic” event of its kind for the Yuletide Season. So much so that when the hour came for the frolic and fun to end, many appeared hard-pressed to leave, sluggishly exiting well after the final song was played by DJ Ras. He had given the masses a hyped session filled with soca and dancehall favourites.

However, he wasn’t the only deejay there to create a vibe. The event, which was ably hosted by Nikita and Salt, saw a cadre of Bim’s best DJs creating the festive atmosphere. DJ Bubbles & FVO, Vico Vybxz & Gunner, Ramon G, Hutchy & Sizz, Papp & Chasey The Entertainer, Jerry Dan, and Fullklipp added to the jam.

The guys had a blast too!

It was non-stop party action.

All types of
fashion and variations of white could be seen.

They were complemented by powerful performances from Hypasounds and Mole The Chef who both sang their hits with the masses responding with resounding applause.

It was packed with entertainment, creating a sweet vibe. There was no shortage of liquor for drink lovers. The menu prepared by one of the island’s culinary best, Chef Creig Greenidge, included roasted salmon and cream cheese with assorted crackers; fish cakes with tartar sauce; curry chicken salad cups; tea; coffee; breakfast oats; cheese and herb scrambled eggs; rosemary sea-salt breakfast potatoes; grilled chicken sausage; Bajan seasoned chicken and waffles; honey balsamic glazed ham carvery; and white wine infused with chicken.

The event, advertised to end at midday, went on for two extra hours. There were no complaints from the crowd, especially those who decided to stay on.

And, while the event ended on Monday, there are still remnants of the grand time that was had as photos make their way around social media. Albums posted the day after on Barbados TODAY have reached over 62,000 viewers on Facebook and over 56,000 viewers on Instagram. Many patrons commented positively under the posts, while others, here and abroad, expressed regret over not being present.

Good news for those who missed out. According to promoters, the next ICE will be in September 2023. (IMC)
