If you have never heard of the Captain’s Annex which is located on 36 Blowers Road, St. James then you are missing out on viewing a picturesque location.
The location which is nestled to the right of the Portvale Sugar Factory is a home for premium events, corporate and business workshops, and weddings.
Director of Operations at the Captain’s Annex Juliette Cumberbatch said she decided to invite her family and friends to fly to Barbados to be a part of the Run Barbados Marathon Weekend 2022 which was held at East Coast Road, Barbados this year on December 10 and 11.
“I am a seasoned runner as I have participated in marathons in the United States of America. I convinced my family and friends living in Barbados and abroad to register for the 5k walk and 10k run events.
“I thought it would be a perfect opportunity for my loved ones to visit Barbados and experience the island in a unique way.
“Although I have not actively been running in the past four years, I thought it would be a good way to resume training,” she said.
Cumberbatch who inherited the Captain’s Annex from her father Wilton ‘The Captain’ Dacosta Cumberbatch said she inherited her athletic abilities from her father.
“My father ran for the Barbados Academy and enjoyed running the 100 metres, 200 metres, long jump, and high jump events. I believe I get my competitive nature from him. This year when I saw the Run Barbados event poster, I knew that I wanted to invite our family and friends to participate. The event was rigorous, but we had a great time as we walked and ran through St. Andrew and we are looking forward to attending the event next year,” she said.
The Director of Operations said her family and friends were adorned in shirts with ‘The Captain’s Annex’ on the chest as she wanted to pay homage to her father Wilton Cumberbatch as well as to sensitise persons about some of the services that her company offers.
