The Seismic Research Centre (SRC) of the St Augustine campus of the University of the West Indies (IUWI) said that the quake, which occurred at 7.23 a.m. (local time) was located 53 kilometres (km) west of Pointe-a-Pitre in the French island of Guadeloupe. It was felt at a depth of 177.3 km and was felt in the neighbouring islands of Dominica, Montserrat, St Kitts-Nevis as well as Antigua and Barbuda. Two days ago, an earthquake with a magnitude of 3.1 shook St John’s, the capital of Antigua and Barbuda, Point-a Pitre in Guadeloupe and Basseterre in St Kitts.
