The St. Michael School, who are on 185 points, hold a 10-point lead over Springer Memorial (175) in the fight for the girls’ title, with Combermere also in striking range on 170 points. Meanwhile, Harrison College leads the boys with 173 points, ahead of Combermere on 154 points. The battle for third position sits on a knife’s edge with Christ Church Foundation School sitting in third place on 125 points and SMS hot on their heels with 122.5 points. Rounding off the top five is Lodge with 109 points. The St Michael School’s lead in the girls’ division at one stage was over 20 points, but eventually dwindled to 10 when the final relay was completed. This was due to a remarkable comeback by Springer Memorial, who was sitting in third place around 1 p.m., adrift by over 30 points. With the 1500 metres and relays still left in the day, the queens from the Shane Brathwaite zone had worked their way up to second place on 132 points behind leaders SMS (152 points). Combermere, who were second, slipped to third place with 124 points. Combermere fought back in the relays winning the Under-17 girls’ and Under-20 girls’ 4×100 metre relays for maximum points, but Springer Memorial finished on the podium both times to stay just ahead of them at the end of the day. The Alleyne School are fourth in the Girls Division with 113 points, while Harrison College who were fourth after the 200m dropped down to fifth with 97.5 points.
