The home team was soundly whipped by Canada 6-0 in their opening game at the Hockey Centre in Wildey with Robin Thind scoring a beaver trick. Hudson Loh gave the visitors the lead when he slotted home in the 7th minute before doubling their lead in the 21st from a penalty corner. Despite being down, Barbados was still in the game, but four goals in the space of four minutes from Thind sealed the deal.
