Members of the Barbados Police Service are mourning the loss of a former Deputy Commissioner of Police.

Alvin Griffith, a Northumberland, St Lucy resident and long-serving member of the constabulary who rose to the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police before his retirement, passed away on Friday morning.

The former high-ranking officer was described as a well-loved member of the service, with one letter written to the media describing Griffith as “a  man of honest purpose and simple integrity, with the rare qualities of dignity, decency and decorum”.

The late law enforcer is the father of five including Assistant Commissioner of Police David Griffith and attorney-at-law Michael Griffith KC.
